Release notes for FastEcho 1.45
===============================
Copyright (c) 1991-1995 by Software Technik Burchhardt. All rights reserved.
Welcome to this intermediate release of FastEcho. Not all functions for 1.50
have been implemented yet, a lot more features are about to come, amongst
them is support for PCBoard and Wildcat! I expect to release 1.50 later this
year or - if everything fails - early next year.
Due to internal changes again the configuration file structures are incompat-
ible with the FASTECHO.CFG file of FastEcho 1.41/g and prior! Therefore you
can't use the old tools reading this file (FETool <=1.42, FEConv <1.50 etc),
there should be updates available real soon. Contact your nearest FastEcho
support sites, they always have the latest versions available. The new
configuration structures are available as FECFG145.ARJ (C and Pascal). These
changes can be expected to be final, only small additions will be made later
which should keep any new version backwards compatible.
As far as I know there are 3 message editors available which directly support
FastEcho - timEd, GoldEd and Fleetstreet. The latest GoldEd beta5 should
already be able to read the new config file, so is the latest Fleetstreet
release. A timEd update is pending. In the mean time you can use F2READER
(which should be available as F2R*.* at any FastEcho support site) to create
so-called 'include-files' for both, older GoldEd and timEd versions.
Included you will find the first public release of a completely rewritten
FastEcho manual (thanks to Marco Piazza who spent a lot time and work on it)!
However, as it is the first release and work has just finished in the last
minute, it may not be 100% accurate in all places (description of features,
spelling etc.), so your suggestions are very welcome. Send them to Tobias
Burchhardt (2:2448/400) or directly Marco Piazza (2:2448/400.7).
